Cathine (Alvalin®) a Legitimate 'New Ephedra'? 9.1kg vs. 2.4 kg Weight Lost, 165% Greater Waist Reduction in Humans

Image
You don't have to switch to eating pills, only. Don't worry. What you will still have to do, though, is to (a) clean up your diet, (b) stop eating everything in sight, and (c) achieve a caloric deficit. With its ability to reduce hunger and appetite, cathine may yet help you make that happen.  Let's be honest: ever since the classic ECA stacks have been banned from the market, there are neither over-the-counter, nor prescription weight loss supplements/drugs that work. Scientists from the Technical University of Munich (Germany | Hauner 2017) believe they can change that. Not by inventing a revolutionary new compound, but  by digging out a cousin of ... you guessed it: the good old ephedrine. Cathine is the name of the agent that was originally launched in the 1970s for the short-term treatment of diet-related obesity. Cathine is an alkaloid originally isolated from khat leaves grown in East Africa and the Arab peninsula and is a stable metabolite of cathinone, which ...

Cold Thermogenesis - A Safe Ephedra Alternative? 70kcal Increase in 24h Energy Expenditure is Negligible, 50% Lower Than Ephedrine - Not Worth the Torture, Bro!

Image 1 ( odditycentral ): Jin Songhao , one of China’s most seasoned icemen and not exactly as lean as you may expect based on what you currently read around the blogosphere, managed to beat the previous world record for the longest ice bath - 120min! Congrats, Jin! Ephedrine for years the go-to OTC fat burner for physique athletes and average Joe's and Jane's alike is no longer (officially) available: No matter how bold the label claims about X mg of "ephedra extract" may be - NONE(!) of the currently available "ephedra based" over-the-counter (OTC) fat-burners contains significant amounts of the active alkaloids, which made the old Mua huang based herbal ephedra products so effective. Against that background, dieters are constantly on the look-out for novel "gimmicks" to help them finally get rid of those annoying love-handles. One of those gimmicks, which has caught quite some attention as of late, is called " cold thermogenesis ...

Ephedrine: New Study Confirms Metabolic Effects of Forbidden "Weight Loss"-Drug

Image
Its August 2010, years after Ephedra has been banned from the supplement marked, the words "ephedrine" and "ECA" can still be heard, whenever people chat about weight loss supplements. A new study by Napolitano et al. ( Napolitano. 2010 ) may explain why this is the case. Stated simply: Ephedrine works! But its effects on the basal metabolic rate is much less pronounced than some nostalgics would have it. Figure 1: Mean differences and standard deviations of differences between measures of fat, carbohydrate, and protein oxidation, made overnight and over 23 hours, and repeated after a 24-hour or 14-day interval. Untreated (placebo) subjects, n = 6. ( While the overall difference in energy expenditure appears negligible (+45.55kcal on the first day; +32.48kcal on day 14), it is interesting that there is a shift in substrate metabolism from carbohydrates to fatty acids within the 24 hour window after 3x15mg/day ephedrine administration. The net effect of eph...
