Mercury Toxicity - Is Your Whey Protein Worse than Your Amalgam Fillings? Maybe, but That's not so Bad, Anyway...

Image
Could your whey protein contribute more to your mercury exposure than your 20-year old amalgam fillings? 30 years ago Eggleston, et al. published a paper in "The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry" which confirmed that there is a statistically significant "positive correlation between the number of occlusal surfaces of dental amalgam and mercury levels in the brain (p < .0025 in white matter)" (Eggleston. 1987). Only recently Bentsson et al highlighted that modern amalgam fillings may leak even more of the toxic substance into your saliva (from where it will take a tour around your body). And earlier this year the European Union banned amalgam fillings - albeit only for kids and without admitting that they are a definite health threat. High-protein diets are much safer than some 'experts' say, but there are things to consider... Practical Protein Oxidation 101 5x More Than the FDA Allows! Organic vs. Conventional: The Overlooked Low Cadmium Advantage. Almost 50% Lower Cd Levels and Half-Lifes of 10-30 Years May Be Another Reason to Buy Organic

Image
Eating organic is not so much about what you get extra (vitamins etc.), but rather about paying more for getting less. Less pesticides and, as recent studies show, significantly less cadmium. In view of the hype around organic produce, it would appear as if this was a bogus question, but previous studies were not able to confirm any of the huge claims you will read all over the internet. The only established benefit so far - and that's certainly not one you should underestimate - appears to be a relative lack of pesticides. Only recently scientists have compared a broad variety of organic and conventially grown crops and found that organically grown crops do tend to have a notably lower cadmium content, as well. According to  conventionally grown crops – on average, about 48 % lower (this estimate takes into account 87 previously reported comparisons). Chinese Black, Green & Oolong Tea is NO Health Beverage. Lead, Chromium, Cadmium and Potentially Toxic Levels of Manganese + Endocrine Disrupting PFCs Are the Rule

Image
"Pesticide pollution: Chinese tea may not be safe to drink," this is what you could read on the website of Greenpeace in 2012, already and obviously this has not changed over the last 2 years | read more I've actually written about the problem with toxins in tea, specifically green tea from China, before and I wouldn't be too sure, whether bad news like the previously reported "-20% Reduction in Green Tea From Just 5 Cups a Day" ( learn more ) could not possibly be a result of heavy metals and/or other toxins, as well. This and the fact that the data I am going to talk about in the following paragraphs is based on analyses of 43 representative tea products (including 18 green, 12 Oolong, and 13 black teas) from 7 main tea production provinces in China makes today's SuppVersity article relevant for everyone who consumes green tea from China or of unkown origin - China is the cheapest, so guess, where it's from ;-) You can learn more about tea ...
