The more supplements you take the more likely you are to get way more than the 200mcg of chromium of which previous studies have shown that they are useless for healthy people, but at least not detrimental (cf. Lukaski 1996 & 2007; Vincent. 2007). Especially people who like the  'poly-supplementary' approach are yet at risk of getting so much of a this trace mineral that it will hamper not improve their insulin sensitivity. Some supplements have been there forever, eg. creatine , others re-appear from time to time. Chromium is among the last group of supplemental nutrients which have been en-vogue a few years ago and are mostly neglected these days. With a recent study by Ibrahim et al. your interest in the effects of chromium on body composition may yet raise, again. The scientists fed four groups of broiler chickens (I know no humans ;-) a 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 mg cr-yeast/kg diet respectively. The results were quite interesting: Chromium yeast supplementation treatments caused a significant (p<0.05) increase in plasma glucose levels , while supplemented Cr-yeast at levels of 1 (T3), 1.5 (T4), 2 (T5) mg/kg diet resulted in a significant (p<0.05) increase in total protein and globulin as compared to control group. Non-Negligable Loss of Minerals & Trace Elements With Sweat in Healthy Boxers

Turkish scientists ( Saraymen. 2010 ) analyzed the sweat of 21 male cross-country boxers and found only a minor loss of trace elements copper , zinc and iron . A Word on Chromium Supplementation and Body Weight/-Composition

In his doctoral thesis at Chester University Brian G. Black investigated the hypothesis that "supplementation with chromium is capable of positively influencing changes in body composition , through increased muscle mass accretion or preservation and reduction of body fat mass in exercising and sedentary individuals." Or in other words, the idea of his dissertation was to evaluate whether the promises of various producers of chromium supplements are scientifically sound, or whether the abating craze about chromium (picolinate) is nothing but a marketing-hype. Black's results, as summarized in the appendix to his dissertation, appear unequivocal at first sight.
