Garcinia Cola Seeds as a Testosterone Booster: 100%+ Increased Testosterone and Powerful Aphrodisiac Effects

Image
Better than asparagus ;-) I have to admit, it has been a while since I've written about "natural testosterone boosters". In the last article that was remotely related to this topic, I even wrote that they are useless for 90% of the male population, because even if  they boost your testosterone levels by 10-20% this is very unlikely  to have the muscle building and fat burning effects that are marketed on the packages of and in the ads for respective products. Why? Well, even with real gear it takes more than just a 10% boost within the normal range before you see results ( learn more  | specifically Figure 2 where green is the large "normal" range). So why do I even bother about yet another rodent study dealing with the ability of a more or less exotic flowering plant found in Benin, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone and its ability to boost testosterone levels? If you want ...

Men Are Not Always Thinking About Sex. Study Says: There Are At Least 4 "Good" Reasons They Don't - Stress Is #1! Plus: A Proven De-Stress Protocol to Restore Your Libido

Image
If either of these individuals remind you of yourself, you should reduce his stress levels. Recent research suggest: The good old saying that "Men always think about sex!" is essentially untrue (The "!" indicates that I used the feminist version of this common "wisdom"). If we put faith in the results of a recent European study from the Department of Clinical Psychology at the Instituto Universitário in Lisbon, Portugal, the Department of Psychology at the University of Tromsø in Tromsø, Norway, and the Sexology Unit at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia, stress is the common denominator that distracts men from their original duty to do what has to be done for the survival of the human race ;-) Homo coitum quaerens aut evitarens? It may sound surprising, but unlike sexual function, the sexual desire of the male members of the human race has not been examined as extensively as the one of their female...

2g Vitamin C Ameliorate Low Testosterone Levels and Sexual Dysfunction in Diabetic Rats. Usefulness in Normoglycemic Individuals Still Questionable.

Image
Illustration 1: In view of the increase in renal vitamin C clearance with higher plasma levels ( Friedmann. 1940 ), it may be sensible to use a time-released vitamin C formula , or, even better, eat a serving of veggies or fruits that are high in vitamin C multiple times a day Yes, I know, supplemental vitamin C does not ward off the common cold... the same applies for taking super high doses of vitamin C as antioxidant buffers before or around workouts. In fact, studies have shown that the antioxidant overkill of a combination of vitamin C and other powerful antioxidants could negate the beneficial effects exercise has on human blood glucose management. Now, a group of Brazilian scientists has published a rodent study that seems to suggest that in the absence of exercise the addition of 2g (human equivalent for 80kg male) of vitamin C to your diet could partially restore sexually function and increase testosterone levels in diabetic pa...

Andropause? Low Testosterone? At Risk of Developing Diabetes? Get a Free Hormonal Panel and Access Your Personal Health Risks With an Old-Fashioned Measuring Tape.

Image 1: Not as realiable as bloodwork, but a valid first indicator of testosterone levels and metabolic health in general (image from Millionlineincome ) I have been writing about getting hormones tested before. And if you listened to Thursday's episode of Super Human Radio and tuned in even before I was on, you will have heard Dr. Crisler from "All Things Male" talk about the paramount importance of optimal testosterone and free testosterone levels on physiological and pyschological health of the purportedly "stronger" sex (yeah, I am talking about us, guys ;-) If that got you interested or you suspect, for whatever reason, to have low testosterone levels, but are unwilling or unable to spend money on a blood test, you may well be interested in the results of a study that was published in the May issue of the Asian Journal of Andrology ( Alan. 2011 ). Alan et al. who investigated the relationship of age, adiposity ...

Now Its Official: Propecia Drug Finasteride Kills Male Libido Permanently

Image
Image 1: Chemical structure of finasteride Other than the FDA some European medicine and health care agencies, such as the Swedish Medical Products Agency and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of the United Kingdom already had the guts to declare in their patient informations that " persistence of erectile dysfunction after discontinuation of treatment with Propecia has been reported in post-marketing use. " While this was obviously no reason for the all-mighty FDA to correct or re-evaluate their own documents, two it did intrigue Michael S. Irwig and Swapna Kolukula, two US scientists from Washington and Baltimore, respectively. In their study ( Irwig. 2011 ), the scientists conducted standardized interviews with 71 otherwise healthy men (age: 21–46y), who experienced permanent (>3 months) sexual side effects after temporary use of Finasteride. Their reports are staggering: 94% developed low libido , 92% developed erectile dysfunction , 92% d...

Chrysine: 5,7-dihydroxyflavone for Bigger Balls and Higher Serum Testosterone

Image
Polyphenols in general and flavonoids in particular are every supplement producer's favorite. Its so easy to pick up some exotic plant from somewhere deep down in the jungle, extract an exotic flavonoid, give it a fancy chemical looking name and provide some in-vitro data on his anti-oxidant omnipotence or whatever. In most cases the compounds disappear from the market within weeks, yet chrysine which is extracted from the Common Passion Flower, has been around for years. A recent study ( Ciftcy. 2011 ) by Ciftci et al. provides further evidence that its market persistence may not be without a reason. Over the time course of the scientists fed a group of lab rats 50 mg/kg chrysin (human equivalent ~8mg/kg) or placebo for 60 days and found: that chrysin significantly increased GSH, CAT, GSH-Px and CuZn-SOD levels , but did not change the formation of TBARS significantly. In addition, sperm motility, sperm concentration and serum testosterone levels significantly increased , ...

L-Citrulline Improves Sexual Performance: 50% Chance of Improvement with just 1.5g/day

You probably receive the same amount of daily spam mails trying to refer you to dubious viagra retailers somewhere on the Cayman Islands, or wherever else in the world. In case, you ever even thought about ordering stuff like that, you may as well consider getting some l-citrulline from your local supplement store first. Scientistsfrom the University of Foggia in Italy ( Cormio. 2011 ) have found that supplementation with as little as 1.5g/day l-citrulline improved erection hardness in men with mild erectile dysfunction (and I always thought Italian men would not have any erection problems ;-): Significant improvement in the EHS [erection hardness score] from 3 to 4 was reported by 2 (8.3%) of the 24 men when taking the placebo and 12 (50%) of the 24 men when taking L-citrulline ( P < .01). The mean number of intercourses per month, a nonvalidated patient-reported outcome we have commonly used in patients treated for ED, was 1.37 ± 0.93 at baseline, 1.53 ± 1.00 at the en...

News on USP Labs' "Pink Magic": High Dose Massularia Acuminata Increases Testosterone and Makes Bucks Horny as Hell

Image
Faithful readers of the SuppVersity will probably remember my short write-up on USP Labs Test Booster " Pink Magic ". Now that the initial fuss about how "brilliant" and "unique" the product is, is over there is finally another study on the efficiency of its main ingredient, a shrub called massularia acuminata . Two scientists from Nigeria ( Yakubo. 2011 ) published an article on the "Effect of Aqueous Extract of Massularia acuminata Stem on Sexual Behaviour of Male Wistar Rats" in the January issue of Evidence Based Complementary Alternative Medicine . The scientists found that supplementation with 500 and 1000 mg/kg body weight (equivalent to 6.8g and 13.6g) of an aqueous extract of the stem of the botanical... ... increased the frequencies of mount and intromission. In addition, the ejaculation latency was significantly prolonged ( P < .05). The latencies of mount and intromission were reduced significantly whereas ejaculation fre...

Arginine + Yohimbine Effective for the Treatment of Erectile Disfunction

Image
Although, this is a topic men do not tend to speak about, statistics say that it bothers more people than one would think: Erectile disfunction. Certainly, Viagra & Co are the most popular tweaks for "getting it up" again, a new study from Iran ( Akhondzadeh. 2010 ), however, suggests that a combination of arginine + yohimbine may prove effective, as well. In a 4-week, double blind study of parallel groups of patients with mild to moderate ED, the scientists report a significant difference in ED within the group supplemented with a one capsule of SX (a commercial preparation consisting of l-arginine + yohimbine): The difference between the two groups was significant at week 4 (endpoint) (P=0.03). Four adverse events were observed over the study. The difference between the SX and placebo was not significant in the frequency of adverse events. Unfortunately, the funding of the study suggests that there may have been a certain bias towards "proving" the advertisem...
