Vitamin D -- Replacing D3 W/ Calcifediol in Fortified Foods May Cut D-ficiency Epidemic | Plus: High/Low Vit-D Jobs

Many of these foods contain significant amounts of calcifediol (25OHD). It's thus not as if we would be exposing us to an unknown research chemical, bros. With vitamin D it is as with all the hype-research subjects: Now that everybody and his mama have published a paper discussing how awesome and important vitamin D is (mostly in the absence of experimental evidence from controlled human trials that would clearly support this "awesomeness", by the way), the number of studies on vitamin D starts to decline, while their quality (at least in parts) increases. In this Vitamin D Research Update , I will address two of these post-hype studies. Both with practical relevance in terms of the prevention and resolution of vitamin D deficiencies: Learn more about vitamin D at the SuppVersity How Much Vitamin D Shall You Take? Nutrition labels on fresh blueberries - do we really need them? I sill remember that I was shocked, when I bought a pack of blueberries and found a nutrition label underneath the plastic cover of my expensive 150g health-investement... That's probably 2 months ago and the reason I do remember this event now is the publication of a paper that examines the effect a change in the "daily values" (i.e. the references), the figures in the obiquitous black and white table are based on, would have on the average US citizen's nutritional intake of the vitamins A, D, E, C, B-12 and folate, and the minerals calcium and iron. "Daily Values" (DV), fortified foods and nutrient adequacy: Before I dig deeper into the actual study results, it's probably wise to point out that fortified foods are the link between the DV's and micro-nutrient intake of the average American. If manufacturers continue to fortify foods to the same %DV for each nutrient, the extent...

Unbelievable: The results of the latest study from the University of Western Sidney appear to suggest that you could keep your insulin levels at bay, if you mixed your sugary intra-workout supplement with aspartame-laden diet coke instead of water! The mechanism that's behind this phenomenon does yet still have to be elucidated. You may be surprised to see a long headline, a long post and a couple of bullet points: "Looks like On Short Notice , reads like On Short Notice , but is not published on Saturday? What's that?" The answer to this question is easy. Lot's of interesting stuff I have come across as of late! And while some of them, like the study on the marginal utility of higher protein intakes on a diet would actually deserve their own post, I decided to give you the "long(er) version of a short notice" in order not to miss any of them... and yes, this means there is going to be more than today's news on the unexpected anti-insulinogenic...
