Training Volume, Intensity, and Your Libido - How Bad is It? Who Read the Study Knows: It's not Just About Cardio ... !

Image
Both, the male and female libido are at risk by overtraining. So don't continue your daily 1h stairmaster sessions, ladies! You may have seen this study elsewhere on Facebook before... and I have to apologize that I am late to the party, but it disappeared in the "to write about" pile on my virtual desktop and resurfaced only today when I didn't find another recent study worth writing about. Enough of the excuses, though. After all, the SuppVersity  is the place to get all the study details - including an assessment of its practical relevance and a brief glimpse at relevant related research. What? No, I bet you didn't get that in one of the reposts to the abstract on PubMed, did you? Or did you understand what a low, medium or high "total intensity" was when you read those copy and paste jobs? It's not  simply the VO2max. If you thought so, you probably misunderstood the study. Overly frequent use of intensity techniques will also put you at...

Garcinia Cola Seeds as a Testosterone Booster: 100%+ Increased Testosterone and Powerful Aphrodisiac Effects

Image
Better than asparagus ;-) I have to admit, it has been a while since I've written about "natural testosterone boosters". In the last article that was remotely related to this topic, I even wrote that they are useless for 90% of the male population, because even if  they boost your testosterone levels by 10-20% this is very unlikely  to have the muscle building and fat burning effects that are marketed on the packages of and in the ads for respective products. Why? Well, even with real gear it takes more than just a 10% boost within the normal range before you see results ( learn more  | specifically Figure 2 where green is the large "normal" range). So why do I even bother about yet another rodent study dealing with the ability of a more or less exotic flowering plant found in Benin, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone and its ability to boost testosterone levels? If you want ...

Citrulline & Glutathione - GSH Amplifies & Prolongs CIT's NO Boosting Effects During + After Biceps Workout

From a physiological perspective NO is not primarily there to make you look vascular and pumped, boys. If you've read the headline and are asking yourselves "Why on earth would I even want to spend money on cosmetic pump?", you probably need a reminder of the multiple important functions nitric oxide (NO) serves in your body: (1) With their ability to relax the musculature of your blood vessels to increase the blood flow through your veins, normal NO levels are required to guarantee optimal blood flow to every body part; (2) since this includes your sexual organs, normal NO levels are also a prerequisite for normal / optimal sexual function; (3) having enough NO is also required to keep your immune defenses up, because the white blood cells need it in their fight against intruders; and if heart disease, sexual dysfunction and immune health are all things you don't care about (4) you may be interested to hear that your brain and metabolic health critically depend o...

Oxytocin - The "Orgasm Hormone" with Multiple Health Benefits: Increased REE, Decreased Total and Visceral Body Fat, Reduced Appetite and Preserved Bone & Muscle Mass

Image
Oxytocin as fat loss adjuvant? We are not there, yet, but maybe in 5 years. Classically, oxytocin has been regarded as a polypeptide hormone, produced by the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland, that stimulates contraction of the smooth muscle of the uterus. In fact, oxytocin is yet far more, the mammalian neurohypophysial hormone that is produced in the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei of the hypothalamus by nerve axons, and stored in the posterior pituitary gland, acts as an important neuromodulator in the brain and plays an important role in the neuroanatomy of intimacy, specifically in sexual reproduction of both sexes. Over the last decades scientists have begun to investigate oxytocin's role in various behaviors, including orgasm, social recognition, pair bonding, anxiety, and maternal behaviors, the direct effects of oxytocin on muscle, bone, adipose tissue and metabolism, on the other hand, have been discovered only recently. OT drops as you age. Learn how t...

Who Wants To Live Forever? 5+ Survival Techniques That Will Help You Make it Past the 100 Year Margin Healthily!

This article will teach you how to make sure you'll see your great, great grand children. This is one of the many things I have learned from my good friend Carl Lanore, whose radio show, Super Human Radio , I have been following for years before I became what Carl once called "semi-famous": We , that is humans in general and researchers in particular, tend to focus way too much on the sophisticated, the innovative and the revolutionary stuff, when oftentimes the answer to ostensibly open question is lying openly before our eyes. Athletics and bodybuilding, is one of these areas, where practitioners have been doing everything right for decades... and what was their reward? World-records and mind-boggling physiques, for example. This is yet by no means the only example. The "paleo movement", as bizarre and disfigured as it may have become does still exemplify that the same can be said of "healthy eating", as well. You can learn more about the se...
